The Bushmen performed in and around Rittman Ohio in the 1960s while its members were in high school. 60 years after first playing along to Beatles’ albums on homemade cardboard guitars, The Bushmen have their own record. Written by frontman Jim Ullman, “Salt Street Skinny” is an ode to lead guitarist Larry Griffin. Recorded after the passing of drummer Jack Ullman in 2023, bassist Ronnie “Oz” Osburn pulls double duty—playing Jack’s Pearl drum set on the title track. Jack sings lead vocals on the Vince Gill tune “Liza Jane” and Kenney Chesney cover “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” and producer Brian Ullman adds everything from lead guitar to ukulele, helping The Bushmen sound every bit as vital in their seventies as they did when they first formed as teenagers.
